These are the questions that come in before people book Hotel Plaza de Armas: what a night costs, whether you'll hear the street, what the walk back from dinner is like, what gets charged on top of the rate, and what time you can check in.

What people ask us before they book
- Why book direct instead of through a travel site?
- Two reasons. Book direct with the hotel and you get our best rate, with breakfast for two included, and you're talking to the same front desk that will check you in. Go through an intermediary and every change or special request has to travel back through them first.

- What does a night cost?
- The Clásica starts at $1,500 MXN a night (about US$80), and the published starting rates climb by room type from there: Standard $1,600 MXN (about US$85), Deluxe $1,700 MXN (about US$90), Jr Suite $1,900 MXN (about US$105), Jr Suite Premium $2,500 MXN (about US$135), Jr Suite Double $2,900 MXN (about US$155), Master Suite $3,000 MXN (about US$160). Those are final prices with tax included, and they go up at weekends. The rate for your own dates shows up when you pick them.
- Which room should I book?
- It depends what you're optimizing for. Light and the view over the square: the Jr Suite Premium has a balcony and the Master Suite has a private terrace with a carved cantera fountain. Sleep: an interior room, so a Deluxe or a Jr Suite. Four of you: the Jr Suite Double has two Queen beds. You can put them side by side on the rooms page.
- Will street noise keep me up?
- You're on one of the main squares of the historic center, so yes, you hear the street. The interior rooms are the quietest in the building, and the Deluxe, the Jr Suite and the Jr Suite Double all face the courtyard instead of the square. If sleep is the priority, take one of those.
- Are the rooms dark?
- It's an 18th century building with deep stone walls. The balcony and terrace rooms are the ones with the light and the view over the square: the Jr Suite Premium and the Master Suite. If waking up to daylight matters to you, book one of those instead of an interior room.
- What's the walk back after dinner like?
- Our door opens onto Andador Libertad, the pedestrian walkway that runs along Plaza de Armas, so coming back from a restaurant in the historic center is a few minutes on foot with no road to cross and no car to retrieve. The square is one of the main ones in the center, lit and busy in the evening, with the restaurant tables out under the arcade; that is also exactly why you hear it from the street-facing rooms. And if you'd rather not go out at all, Restaurante La Nación serves dinner inside the building.
- Does anyone at the hotel speak English?
- Spanish is the working language of the hotel. The practical answer is WhatsApp: message +52 442 191 2866 before you travel, write in English, and get the things that matter (a late arrival, an interior room, a table for breakfast) settled in writing before you walk in. A written request is easier to handle in either language than a conversation at the desk with your bags still on your shoulder.
- What currency do I pay in?
- Mexican pesos. Rates are quoted and charged in MXN, and every US dollar figure on this site is an approximate conversion at roughly 18.5 pesos to the dollar, there to give you a sense of scale rather than a price we set. If you want to confirm which cards the front desk takes before you travel, ask us on WhatsApp and you'll have it in writing.
- What time is check-in and check-out?
- Check-in runs from 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm and check-out is at 12:00 noon. If your flight or your bus puts you outside that window, tell us when you book and we'll work it out.
- How do I get to Querétaro?
- Two ordinary ways. Fly into the Querétaro airport (QRO) and take a taxi into the historic center, or take the bus from Mexico City to the Querétaro bus station and a taxi from there. Once you're here you're on foot: the Templo de San Francisco is about three minutes from the door.
- Where do I park? The center is pedestrian.
- There's valet, $300 MXN a ticket (about US$16), and it isn't instant: getting your car back takes a while. Leave yourself margin, especially on the morning you leave. If you're flying into the Querétaro airport or coming by bus, you don't need a car here at all.
- What costs extra?
- Before you book: breakfast for two is included when you book direct, and each extra person is $250 MXN (about US$14). Parking is $300 MXN a ticket (about US$16), valet. An extra guest is $500 MXN (about US$27). The hotel does not take pets.
- Is breakfast included?
- It is, when you book direct: breakfast for two comes with the room. Each extra person is $250 MXN (about US$14), and you can also order from the menu at La Nación downstairs, where breakfast dishes run from the chilaquiles to the enchiladas Corregidora.
- Is the pool heated?
- No. It's an outdoor pool, out in the open between the cantera walls of the courtyard, and the water isn't heated. Worth knowing before you pack a swimsuit.
- Can I cancel?
- The available rate requires a 15% deposit. Before booking, review the cancellation terms that apply to your selected dates in the booking engine.
- Can I bring my dog?
- No. The hotel does not take pets, so it is worth sorting out where your dog stays before you travel.
- Is this the hotel, or a reseller?
- This is the hotel's own site. You book direct, and Hotel Plaza de Armas is who confirms the room and who hands you the key.
